Online Roulette Tips
Playing online roulette to win isn't easy, even though many so
called exclusive
casino offers want to make you think that it is. The truth is
that the odds are against you. Still, it's not impossible. With a
little luck and the understanding of a few simple tips, you can be
a short-term winner at roulette.
Here's what you need to know to have your best shot.
All Roulette Wheels Are Not Created Equal
While most roulette wheels look pretty much the same, especially online,
there is one key difference between the two types of roulette wheels.
If you are accustomed to playing American
online roulette, you'll know the two spaces at the top of the
layout labelled 0 and 00.
It may interest you to learn that European roulette wheels only have
one 0 on the wheel and the layout. This is an important factor in
the calculation of roulette odds. There are 36 numbers on the wheel,
so if you pick a number correctly you win 35-to-1.
This seems fair until you realize that there are really 38 spaces
on the wheel when you consider the zero and double zero. Therefore,
on an American wheel you get 35-to-1 on a 37-to-1 shot. On the single
zero wheel, it's 35-to-1 on a 36-to-1 shot.
Is that a big deal? In fact, the elimination of that double zero cuts
the house edge in half.
All Roulette Rules Are Not Created Equal Either
In addition to seeking out the single zero, you should also keep an
eye out for the en prison and la partage rules on even money bets
like odd/even and red/black. "En prison" effectively gives
you a do-over if your even money bet loses to a zero. If you win on
the next spin, you get your bet back.
La partage involves a similar idea. However, you have a choice between
getting half of your bet back no questions asked or risking that half
to try to break even by winning on the next spin.
All Systems Are Not Created Equal
It seems like everyone who plays roulette has a system. Although many
people claim to have found one that works, no one really has. The
Martingale system of doubling up every time you lose a spin looks
tempting. However, it can lead to big losses. If you must play a system,
increase your bets when you
win, not when you lose.
